Olympic Winter Games opening ceremony
Leader in Events Power Celebrates 10th Olympic
Games
VANCOUVER (February
15th, 2010) - Aggreko, the global leader in
temporary power and temperature control, played a crucial role in
supporting the Opening Ceremony of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic
Winter Games.
Aggreko was responsible for the main supply of
power for the Opening Ceremony at BC Place as well
as stand-by power to the International Broadcast
Center, which was responsible for transmitting the ceremony to an
estimated three billion viewers worldwide.
As the Official Supplier of Temporary Power
and Temperature Control Solutions, Aggreko will be providing
temporary power, heating and
cooling equipment at all of the Vancouver and
Whistler venues throughout the Games. Aggreko will also be
distributing power generated from renewable sources around 30
Olympic venues using 500 miles of cable and more
than 1,800 electrical distribution panels. Aggreko
has installed over 90 MW of primary and stand-by generators at
venues, enough to supply power to a large town. Aggreko has over
100 people working in Vancouver and Whistler supporting the
Games.
Rupert Soames, Chief Executive,
Aggreko, said:
"We are proud to have played a central
role in supporting the Opening Ceremony and look forward to
providing power and temperature control for the sporting events in
the coming weeks. This is the 10th Olympic Games that
